Schenectady County Republican Committee

Building Better Communities Through Responsible Government

Loretta Rigney - Schenectady County County Legislature

Loretta Rigney has been a resident of Schenectady County for the past 21 years. A first time candidate, Loretta was inspired to run for office after witnessing the negativity of last year’s election. She decided to put her skills to use to build unity in her community in place of division. She wrote a simple goal to run for elected office and doors began to open.

After completing her undergraduate studies in Psychology and Child & Family Studies, Loretta worked for local non-profits in the fields of youth development and addictions treatment and prevention, before becoming Director of Marketing and Communications and later Vice President at The Chamber of Southern Saratoga County. As a Chamber Executive and a graduate of the Institute for Organizational Management, Loretta learned the valuable skills of relationship building and creating the critical balance of business development and quality of life for residents in a community. She excels in seeing the big picture and implementing concrete plans of action to reach a common goal.

Loretta is currently the Chief Purchasing Officer at Rumors Salon & Spa in Latham and enjoys being a key team member in a locally owned business. She understands the impact smaller employers have on the economic fabric of our area.

Loretta lives in the Village of Scotia with husband, Tom and daughter, Rachel. Her son, Daniel lives in England with his wife, Jade. She is the Chair of the Village of Scotia Special Events Committee and an active member of Believers Church at Glenville. She is the founder of Kingdom Builders, a networking group for Christian business owners, professionals, and job seekers and teaches workshops on relationship building, financial wellness, and goal setting.

As a newcomer to the political arena, Loretta is excited about the opportunity to serve the Towns of Glenville and Niskayuna and use her skills to facilitate positive change in our community.
